His passion for dance music was shaped during the 90s when he witnessed the explosion of trance, techno and progressive house. Instantly he gravitated towards DJing, spending hours obsessing about how to create flawless mixes. His technical aptitude for seamless storytelling propelled him to become a headline resident in Edinburgh. However, Nila’s thirst for exploration led him on an unforgettable journey across Asia, where he fell in love with underwater photography and videography. While his love of those ethereal underwater worlds continues to inspire him after he made the daring leap to New Zealand in 2008, the magnetic pull from the stdio and DJing ultimately drew him back and he immersed himself in music production.
Now based in Auckland, the Scottish-born producer finds solace and creative energy by working with hardware synthesisers, capturing the raw magic and organic idiosyncrasies of his analog machines. Collaborations with exceptional talents like Sam Hopgood and Luis Damora, a promising new era of sonic exploration is unfolding. In addition to securing deals with numerous prestigious progressive labels, Nila’s DJ skills have earned him coveted spots alongside luminaries such as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, and Guy Mantzur.
